This will be a site featuring our chihuahuas, we breed them with the hopes of giving them to loving homes.

We currently own 5 dogs! They are Tito, Molly, Brutus, Jessie, and Abby. They are a handful but we love each and every one of them dearly. Molly is the mother of Jessie & Brutus. We traded Abby for another of Molly's puppies.

    Chi Chi Wowows FAQs!
    Posted by:chichiwowow at: 3:13 PM

Here are some frequently asked questions with regards to our business, our puppies, our selves. Keep coming back, as we will update this section often. If your question is not already answered here, please feel free to email us at this address.

    1. How long have you been breeding Chihuahuas, and how long have you owned them?

We've been breeding Chihuahuas since 2006. Molly was our first mother. She had 5 healthy puppies, all who found good homes - we should know, we loved them so much we kept two! She has had 1 more litter since then, another 4 healthy puppies who have all been sent to good homes.

We have owned a Chihuahua for most of our lives. Our first one, Charlie, was with us for 8 years until he died (he had a LOT of health problems - we adopted him knowing this, and cared for him to his last day).

Next came Tito, our fiesty little guy. He is truly the Alpha Dog of this roost! He has an apple-head and lovely light brown coat, with a white diamond shape on his forehead and a white tuft at his chest. He can get yappy now and again until one of us reminds him who the owners are, haha! We were talked into neutering him so sadly we are unable to breed him with others - too bad, as he is a wonderful dog from a healthy family! After some time, we felt Tito might be lonely, so we got Abbie as a companion. Tragically Abbie came to an early end - she escaped and was killed by a hit and run - we were devestated by this.

After some time, we found and adopted Molly. We knew she was not spayed, and after some time we felt that we would like to explore the options of breeding her. She was so well-mannered, happy, loving, and an excellent addition to our family, that we felt it would be wonderful to provide others with an opportunity to own one of her babies. We found her a stud via one of our friends and bred her at the age of 2. She had 5 puppies -unfortunately the last one died, it took too long to push the little guy out. The other 4 were incredibly healthy, happy, and so wonderful we ended up keeping two of them - Brutus and Jessie.

Brutus is actually quite big for a chihuahua - many have compared him with much larger dogs! For this reason we decided to be wise and had him neutered, as there would be no possibility of giving others the opportunity to breed with him - by rule, the father should be smaller than the mother, and that simply wasn't happening for Brutus! He has a fawnish look about him and a lovely light brown coat with white markings.

Jessie was the opposite - very small, the "runt" of our litter, but no less loved! She also has fawn markings and a lovely light brown coat with white accents. We then sold one of the dark ones and traded another for Abby, another long-haired chihuahua with the most beautiful chocolate brown coat. It is our intention to eventually breed both Jessie and Abby, once we feel they are of the right age and suitability of course.

We have since bred Molly one more time. She had four adorable puppies, the most beautiful silver and grey colors! You can see photos of these ones on our flickr site here. One of them is the dog featured as the main photo of our site!

    2. How much are your Chihuahuas?

Pricing depends on the breed and availability. If we have to travel far to get our dogs to you, this will be included in the cost as well. If you want more info, just email us at the address provided at the beginning of this FAQ section; we will be delighted to answer your queries. We typically require a deposit on a puppy if you have chosen one who is not yet ready to leave their mother; this ensures that you get your puppy, and we know that you are serious about taking one into your home!

    3. Do you accept VISA/MasterCard/cheque/interac?

At this time we will accept certified cheques and cash only. We do not have the facility to process credit card or debit card transactions.

    4. How long will it take for us to get our puppy?

It will depend on how old they are when you have come to view them or see their online photo information. We try not to separate the pups from their mother until they are a suitable age for everyone involved. Chihuahuas are fragile dogs and require extra care and attention right after they are born. The ultimate goal is to give you a healthy, happy puppy, and we cannot do that if we yank them away from their mother too soon!

    5. What comes with a puppy?

Currently we not only offer our puppies with their first shots and veterinary check-ups, de-worming, etc. We can also provide certificate of registry, and a starter kit (see photo below). The photo is for reference only; items in the bag may vary from time to time, depending on availability of the products. We do not neuter or spay our dogs - that is your responsibility! We do everything we can to make sure your dog is healthy, secure, and ready to be loved.

    6. We've decided we don't want the puppy anymore. Can we return it?

Unfortunately, as much as we adore the noble Chihuahua, we cannot always afford to have them returned to us - our family of dogs is already quite large. We will do our best to try and help find another loving home for your dog, but we also are hoping that with careful consideration, you won't purchase this puppy without giving it a lot of thought. Getting a pet is a very serious thing, and nobody should go into it lightly. There is some excellent information here with regards to the purchase of chihuahuas, which would apply to dogs in general - know what you are getting into! This should not be an impulse buy! Too many pets end up at the pound due to impulsive owners - don't be one of them!

    7. What kind of food should I give my new pet?

Everyone has a differing opinion on what you should feed your new pup; if you are truly lost, you can ask your vet or even the local SPCA. We spoil our dogs, feeding them quality grade dog food, as well as pumpkin & rice mixtures from time to time (this is to fortify their bones and give their coats a glossy shine, as well as help their digestive system!). We can provide you with more feedback at the time of purchase if you need any more help.

    8. How often do you breed your dogs?

We only ever breed our mothers once a year, sometimes once every 2 years - this is to ensure the health and happiness of our dogs. We do not "puppy mill" and will not breed them on a whim or request. When we have puppies available, we will post it on the main site - we will not accept requests for specific dogs to be bred - when it happens, it happens! We can put you on a waiting list for the time when we do have some available, but please understand, for the safety of our beloved mothers, and to avoid more animals ending up abandoned or in shelters, we do not always have puppies around.

    9. I need help! My puppy is unhealthy/displaying weird behavior/other mystifying thing. What do I do?

If you have any issues, questions, concerns, anything regarding one of our dogs, please, do not hesitate to call us or email us (at address given above). Our phone number will be made available to you when you come to pick up your new family member. We are dedicated to the safety and well-being of these dogs, and we understand that new pets can be frustrating, especially if you don't know what is and isn't expected or normal! We have had Chihuahuas for most of our lives, including one that had many medical problems, so we know quite a bit about their behaviour, health, and other general information. We are happy to help you!

    10. Who do you breed with your mothers? Do you screen for illnesses and other stuff on both parents' sides?

We are very careful of when and where and with whom we breed our mothers. We do our best to find out of any issues that may have come from the mother or father's lineage, and will provide you with that information as it arises. We currently have only bred with our eldest, Molly. In future we will also look into breeding with Jessie (who is Molly's daughter) and Abby (from a different litter altogether). We do not offer stud services - our two males, Tito and Brutus, have been neutered. When Molly gets older, we will likely retire and spay her. We believe in being responsible owners, and doing what is best for our pets' health and livelihood.
